As crawfish season approaches, it is the perfect time to enjoy a presentation by Sam Irwin, author of Louisiana Crawfish: A Succulent History of the Cajun Crustacean (History Press). There will be a screening of a six-minute video title "Bien Fou Pour des Ecrevisses" and Irwin will read a short excerpt from the book. Sam Irwin, is a freelance writer, photographer and public relations consultant residing in Baton Rouge, La. In his writings, Irwin is known for his keen insights and quick wit. A book signing will follow. The evening will also include an oral history presentation by a Grand Coteau native as part of the Grand Coteau Voices series. Each month, there is an oral history presentation that may include stories of work, education, entertainment and relationships of Grand Coteau residents from the 1920s to the 1980s. The oral history presentation will be hosted by Constance Milton, a Grand Coteau native and Public History MA student at UL. The Grand Coteau stories will be recorded and archived at the Archives of Cajun and Creole Folklore at ULL.
