Canoe Paddle

The community is invited to take a canoe trip on the Bayou Vermilion. $5 insurance fee to American Canoe Association for a canoe or bring your own canoe or kayak and paddle for free. Canoe trips are held every second and last Saturday of the month weather and river conditions permitting. Please RSVP in advance by emailing Margot Addison or calling (337) 233-4077 x 205.

Kayaking 101: Basic Skills for Flatwater Kayaking

In this on-water seminar, you'll learn everything you need to know to learn how to paddle a flatwater kayak efficiently. We'll cover all the basics including terminology, the best ways to enter and exit a kayak as well as all the basic strokes. Our goal is for you to be able to easily paddle your kayak in a straight line, turn quickly in both directions and to do it with techniques that will minimize effort on your arms.
